Khammam: The onus is on people to make Haritha Haram programme a huge success, Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said.Taking part in the plantation drive at Pindiprolu village under Tirumalayapalem mandal on Thursday, the Minister said that although the government is promoting the Haritha Haram on a big note, it’s is impossible to turn the State Haritha Telangana without people’s patronage for the programme.

In all, Rs 400 crore will be spent to address irrigation needs of the farmers in the region, he said. Responding to the complaints of non-receipt of Aasara pensions, the Minister directed the MPDOs concerned to ensure the payments reach the beneficiaries in time. Earlier, he laid foundation stones for the construction of several roads in Tirumalayapalem mandal.

Speaking at the plantation drive at Pindiprolu, CFO Raghuveer urged the people to respond to the call of the government in increasing the green cover in the State. The government’s aim is to increase the forest cover in the State to 33 per cent from the present 24 per cent, he added.MLC Balasani Laxminarayana and DCCB chairman Muvva Vijay Babu were among others present.
