Mahbubnagar: Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao on Wednesday inaugurated the Nettampad Phase- II lift irrigation project at Ryalampad village in Gattu Mandal of Mahabubnagar on Thursday.
The Nettempadu Scheme envisages creation of irrigation potential and drinking water facilities for drought prone areas of Mahabubnagar District, by lifting water from Krishna River from the foreshore of Priyadarshini Jurala Project on the right flank near Upperu (V), Dharur (M).

Phase I is for irrigation of ayacut of 62,000 acres I D under Gudemdoddi Balancing Reservoir and Phase II is for 1.40 lakh acres under Relampadu Balancing Reservoir. As far as Bhima project is concerned water will be lifted at Panchdev Pahad from the back waters of Jurala Dam.
Another lift canal originates separately from the Ramanpahad balancing reservoir which would help in irrigating the upland areas. The Bheema Lift irrigation project would irrigate over 203,000 acres, would benefit 180 villages under Makthal, Atmakur, Wanaparthy, and Kollapur taluks of Mahbubnagar district utilising 20 TMC of water.
Addressing the meeting after inaugurating the Nettampad phase II pylon, the Minister said that during the 10 years rule of Congress in combined Andhra Pradesh the district could not get irrigation water to even for 3 acres, but in just two years after formation of Telangana, all the pending lift irrigation projects are on the verge of completion and able to provide irrigation water to more than 4.5 lakh acres during this kharif.
Later, the Minister visited Jurala Project and performed pooja to Krishna River and took part in the inauguration programme of Bheema balancing canal and releasing irrigation water in the canal at Nandimalla village.
