Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh on Saturday asked the party’s Telangana unit to show greater interest and work hard for the revival of the party in the State.

Lokesh held a meeting with the party leaders at the party head office - NTR Trust Bhavan - to identify the problems that the State unit was facing in strengthening the party in the state. TDP State president L Ramana and working president A Revanth Reddy were also present on the occasion.

Lokesh gave a patient hearing to the party leaders’ woes. The leaders said the biggest problem the party was facing was in finding people to create new leadership in districts as most of the big leaders along with their followers had quit the party and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

District leaders told Lokesh that the TRS leaders were resorting to blackmailing tactics against the TDP leaders and were obstructing them from fighting against the anti-people policies of the government.

The leaders informed Lokesh that the TDP had every opportunity to fill the political space created in Telangana after the Congress lost its ground due to the spate of migrations.

The TDP leader assured all kinds of assistance to the party leaders in their fight against the anti-people policies of the TRS government.

Lokesh exuded confidence that the TDP would play the role of a responsible Opposition and counter the TRS government’s anti-people policies and would succeed in filling the political vacuum.
