Sangareddy: Bringing cheers to the farming sector, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has announced that the State government would provide water for 35,000 acres of land this Kharif season from Singur project.

He said in addition to this, 5,000 acres in neighbouring villages would be irrigated using lift irrigation methods. Taking part in the Haritha Haram programme at the Singur project site on Saturday, the Minister reviewed the status of Singur lift irrigation works apart from Mission Bhagiratha works being undertaken at the project site.

Later addressing the media, Harish said canal works and structural works were being undertaken on warfooting and farmers would enjoy the fruits of the works this Kharif season.

Reviewing the water grid works, the Minister informed that 873 villages in Medak and some villages in Nizamabad would be supplied drinking water from Singur project as part of Mission Bhagiratha.

He assured that civil works including intake well, sump house and purifiers for water grid works in Andole and Medak constituencies would be completed by Dasara, and electro-mechanical works would be completed little later.

The Minister said Jogipet, Pulkal, Andole, Raikode and Munipally mandals would get drinking water by this December, including Sangareddy and Medak municipalities, and Tekmal, Alladurg and Regode mandals would get before the onset of summer.
