​Hyderabad: Complying with the High Court orders, Telangana State government on Thursday modified GO No.123 to extend financial benefits to the poor and landless families whose livelihoods would be affected due to land procurement.

According to the GO, welfare measures would be provided to agriculture labourers, artisans and more particularly people from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes who do not own landed property and have been working as labourers and residing in the area for the past three years.

The new order GO No. 190 (dated August 10) states that Rs 5.04 lakh (equivalent to a house as per the two-bedroom housing policy) would be paid in case of displacement of a family.

If it is a single family member without spouse, Rs 1.25 lakh (equivalent to Indira Awas Yojana) would be paid as compensation.

This apart, Rs 3,000 per month would be paid as annuity to an affected family in case of SCs/STs for a period of 20 years. Similarly, Rs 2,500 per month annuity would be paid to artisans and agricultural labourers (other than SCs/STs) for a period of 20 years.

Also, Rs 40,000 would be paid to an affected family as subsistence grant for one year and Rs 60,000 as a one-time grant to SCs/STs in scheduled areas. Similarly, Rs 30,000 would be paid to artisans and those involved in traditional occupation.

A one-time transport grant of Rs 60,000 would also be paid to each affected family in case of displacement area, if relocation is required. Another Rs 60,000 would be paid as one-time resettlement assistance.

Special Chief Secretary to Revenue Department K Pradeep Chandra said that an option would be given in case of a joint family deciding to set up a self-financed scheme or an enterprise based on their own choice or for any other income generating activity.

Such a family would be paid a lump sum amount of Rs 7.5 lakh towards financial assistance in lieu of the specific benefits listed in the order. Fishing rights would be given to the affected families if storage tanks are created and fishing is feasible.

The official said that the district collectors and appropriate authority would verify the eligibility of the claims based on a notification to be issued. The Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) would issue necessary orders from time to time.
