Hyderabad: Effort to change the perspective of the conservative minorities is gradually yielding positive results, observed AK Khan, DG of Anti Corruption Bureau, who is also Chairman and Vice President of the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutional Society (TMREIS).

While participating in a book release function here, Khan said that many people had initially objected to the government’s proposal to set up residential schools for minorities.

People from conservative communities might not evince an interest in getting their wards educated in English medium, he said.

“However, we have received over 17,000 applications from girls alone,” Khan said, adding that this endorsed the view that the people were interested in English medium education in lieu of the Urdu medium.

“Their ambition should receive support from us,” he said.
