Hyderabad: Minister of Legislative Affairs and Irrigation T Harish Rao on Tuesday described the “conflicting postures” being adopted by the Congress, which is a national party, on irrigation projects in Telangana, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh as “unfortunate.”

Speaking at media point, Harish said the Congress party had failed to digest the fact that the State government had been able to successfully resolve the long-pending inter-state dispute with Maharashtra over construction of irrigation projects on the river Godavari.

Even as the Telangana Congress continued to question the agreement with Maharashtra, alleging that State's interests were given a go-by, their counterparts in Maharashtra were protesting that the government had given up more than what was necessary. They held black flag demonstrations there.

On the other hand, APCC chief Raghuveera Reddy questioned AP government for ignoring projects constructed by Telangana State, which he said were detrimental to the interests of AP. While referring to the walk-out staged by the Congress in Legislative Council, he said the party was shedding crocodile tears over input subsidy and drought. He said the Congress party, which had failed to come to the rescue of farmers during its 10-year rule, was now shedding crocodile tears for farmers.

“The videos of their conflicting stand will be made public in the coming days. The provision of uninterrupted power supply reflects our concern for farming community. KCR is always ready to take up the issues of public concern, hence the government has decided to conduct a 10-day session in September last week,” he added.
