Kothagudem (Khammam): With new districts set to be unveiled from Dasara as per the road map cleared by the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, the Khammam administration has intensified search for suitable buildings to house the government machinery for the proposed Bhadradri district with Kothagudem as its headquarters.

As per the preliminary reports, at least 20 buildings, with almost all of them belonging to the State-run Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), have been earmarked to accommodate various government departments.

Taking a lead role in identifying up the buildings, local legislator Jalagam Venkat Rao has been in consultation with the district administration. Recently, he had a meeting with the Joint Collector, D Divya and Superintendent of Police Shahnawaz Qasim separately to discuss about the issue.

Some of the buildings identified are SCCL projects and planning, old dispensary and other buildings in the headquarters hospital, public health centre in old Kothagudem, Shadihana, old municipal office CER Club, Kothagudem Club, power house, IMA Hall, ERP, Urdu Ghar, computer training centre in 3incline, Stree Shakti Bhavan, Rudrampur community hall etc.

Against this backdrop, while the ERP building near bus station will house the new Collectorate, some buildings in headquarters hospital will be turned into SP office. Some of the residential quarters of the SCCL will be used as the camp offices of Collector, Joint Collector and Superintendent of Police.

Stating that a detailed report consisting of building measurements is being prepared by the authorities, Venkat Rao told The Hans India: “A final decision will be taken by the administration after the government announces new districts formally. The comfort of the people is paramount to the administration.” Accompanied by RDO MV Ravindranath and SCCL officials, he inspected some of these buildings on Sunday.
