​Hyderabad: Teachers' unions submitted a memorandum to the SC Development Minister Jagadishwar Reddy and Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) secretary seeking modifications in the New Quality Policy 2016 (NQP) seminars that are conducted to empower teachers.

The unions sought modifications to the NQP presentations and the Rule 28 and regularisation of contract teachers. Minister held discussions with the principal secretary, Scheduled Caste Development; secretary TSWREIS and union leaders at Hyderabad.

The Minister agreed to modify certain conditions for NQP seminars which include those who fall below 50% attendance will not be called again, but will be given training to succeed, video recording of presentations will be stopped, exemptions will be given to those who have two years to go for retirement,

those who have proven chronic and serious illness and those who are pregnant, and there would be no punishment involved in NQP. The Minister also agreed for certain amendments for the approval of Board of Governors including those who worked against the post would not come under Rule 28.
