Vijayawada: Telangana Home Minister Naini Narasimaha Reddy demanded that the Union government give special financial assistance to Telangana on a par with Andhra Pradesh. He accused the Union government of neglecting the development of Telangana. Naini had come to the city to attend a marriage function on Sunday and spoke to the media.

He said the Centre was releasing more funds to Andhra Pradesh than Telangana and said that except for Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, the remaining districts in Telangana were backward. He said that the Chief Ministers of both the Telugu States should work together for development along the lines of Punjab and Haryana.

Naini alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was working against the interests and aspirations of Telangana. He said that the TRS was ready to contest elections in Andhra Pradesh if the people wanted it. Responding to another query, he said that the Cash-for-Vote and gangster Nayeem’s cases were under investigation.
