OU to install 600 CCTV cameras on campus
Osmania University will install about 600 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the campus to keep an eye on the activities of students.
Hyderabad: Osmania University will install about 600 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the campus to keep an eye on the activities of students.
According to sources, the cameras would be installed at key places like college grounds, main roads, hostels and mess premises.
The university has already installed CCTV cameras in administrative building. With the 600 cameras, the university authorities want to keep tight vigil on activities in every nook and corner of the campus.
Sources said that the CCTV cameras would be installed once Vice-Chancellor Prof S Ramchandram gives his nod for the proposal. A student, YR Pranothi Rao said that this move by the administration would help in taking action against such students who indulge in violence on the campus.
Another student Fareesa Irshad said “safe campus should be the priority”. A few students like Devender Ragula said that university had to first crack down on non-boarders in the hostels.
