Mahbubnagar: With District Collector Dr TK Sridevi launching the digital classroom at Cheguru Government High school in Kottur mandal on Thursday, Mahbubnagar district has become the first district to have digital classrooms in the State.

The Collector inaugurated the digital classrooms at Kottur, Bhootpur and Wanaparthy government schools, while about 440 Zilla Parishad High Schools (ZPHS) and 25 Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalayas (KGBV) have also launched the digital classrooms simultaneously on Thursday across the district.

While launching the digital classroom at Cheguru Government High School, the District Collector said, “introduction of digital classrooms in government schools will mark a new beginning towards a comprehensive change in the education system in the district.

Unlike the existing conventional system, digital classrooms will enable the students to have an in-depth understanding of theoretical subjects through pictorial and graphical demonstration of complex theories of science, mathematics and other subjects.

The audiovisual effects will enhance the understanding abilities and the students will inculcate more interest in their subjects and improve their knowledge. Not just students understanding will improve, the e-classrooms will also act as supplementary to teachers and we can easily overcome the problem of shortage of teachers in the schools.”

Another important advantage of digital classrooms is the students and teachers will save a lot of time. For instance, to complete a lesson, a teacher will normally take 2-3 days. However, using digital classroom method of teaching, there is a possibility of completing the lesson in just one day and the students will also have clear understanding of the entire subject in less time.

“Digital classrooms can be a big boom for the students as it will help them learn more subjects in less time and at the same time improve their understanding and reproducing abilities with better expressions,” added the Collector.

The digital classroom teaching system is costing each school about Rs 1.25 lakh, of which about Rs 40,000 is taken from the sanctioned grant to each school, while the remaining Rs 85,000 is spent from the Collector’s fund.

“Out of 540 ZPHS schools in the district, we have taken up digital classrooms in 440 ZPHS and 25 KGBV schools in the first phase. We have given priority to those schools which have shown 100 per cent results in the SSC,” informed the Collector.
