Hyderabad: Private degree colleges have gone on strike from Friday demanding that the government should release arrears of fee reimbursement scheme. This decision of the private colleges has led to the postponement of supplementary exams. The supplementary exams in the degree colleges under Osmania University and Kakatiya University have been postponed and rescheduled for November.

The exams in other universities were scheduled to begin next week and if the issue is not resolved by then, they may also have to postpone the exams. The private degree (arts, science and commerce) college managements have been demanding the government for the past few months to release Rs 680 crore arrears pertaining to fee reimbursement scheme.

They met the Education Minister, Secretary and Chairman of higher education council several times. Leaders of the private college managements alleged that they have not have received any assurance from the government so they have decided to go on strike. Incidentally, degree colleges are having holidays and no classes are being held for the students.
