Hyderabad: Petroleum dealers have called off their proposed strike as the oil marketing companies have agreed to their demand for a hike in commission.

The OMCs have agreed for hike of 14 paise commission on petrol and 10 paise on diesel. Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association co-ordinator Premendra Reddy said,

“The oil companies were considerate about the demands and came to the conclusion about releasing an interim relief and promised to further increase the commission as per the recommendations of Apurva Chandra Committee which suggests a state-wise cost-based structure for calculation of commission for petroleum dealers across the country.

The committee has also recommended revision of the percentage of commission every six months, based on the costs.

This would be a relief to the dealers, as they had to face a lot of financial crunch due to the low percentage of commissions. As many dealers could not make payments to the staff in petrol pumps, many of the employees left, he added.
