Hyderabad: A two-day seminar held recently here under the joint aegis of the ESI Hospital and the National Institute of Naturopathy explored ways and means of providing holistic treatment to patients drawing upon the best of allopathic and naturopathic methods.
Naturopathy treatment is devoid of injections, tablets, operations and diagnostic tests. This is effective particularly in the case of treating chronic ailments. Naturopathy treatment comprises treating patients using all the five elements of nature: fire, water, earth, space and air amidst sylvan surroundings.
At the seminar, which held in ESI Hospital at Sanathnagar, naturopath Dr Nagalakshmi said that treating patients under both the systems of medicine would give greater relief.
According to Dr Mathuri of ESI Hospital, some first-of-its-kind experiments have taken place in Telugu states. Integrated treatment, employing Ayruveda, Homoeo, Siddhha and Unani systems, would give best results.
“Where is the need to take medicines if precautions are taken to prevent diseases?” question some. Noted TV anchor Jhansi said that she got relief from naturopathy when allopathy failed to solve her chronic health problems. Taking proper food, practicing yoga, working out regularly would help keep diseases at bay, she said.
Doctors who took part in the seminar said that all allopathic hospitals, besides the ESI Hospital, would encourage naturopathy in future. Naturopaths advocate that ‘Prevention is better than cure’.
