Quality Council team visit shrouded in secrecy
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has cast a shroud of secrecy over the visit of a three-member delegation deputed by Quality Council of India to conduct field survey in the run up to announcement of Swachh Survekshan rankings The Council is, an autonomous body constituted by the Union government for conducting field survey.
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has cast a shroud of secrecy over the visit of a three-member delegation deputed by Quality Council of India to conduct field survey in the run up to announcement of Swachh Survekshan rankings The Council is, an autonomous body constituted by the Union government for conducting field survey.
In order to secure the top rank in the Swachh Survekshan, any city or the civic body is required to secure 2,000 marks as prescribed by the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
Swachh rankings evaluation is based on several categories which include open defecation free and integrated solid waste management (weightage 5%), information, education and behavioural change communication (5%), door-to-door collection, sweeping, collection and transportation (40%), processing and disposal (20%), public/community toilet provision and individual toilet (15% each).
According GHMC official, the Swachh delegation is in city on a three day visit in various areas across the city in order to inspect the sanitation and others parameters to obtain better ranking.
He said the Swachh delegation would inspect vegetable markets, slums, community toilets, public toilets, major commercial areas and several others unplanned colonies across the city.
Even though the GHMC had provided the list of areas being inspected by the delegation, it was maintaining top secrecy regarding its schedule of the visits. The visit of the team during the last year took place amid a glare of publicity.
The GHMC official further said the Swachh Survekshan delegation report would not impact the ranking but the team would definitely inspect locations as per the guidelines issued by Quality Council of India.
However, the officials appealed to the citizens to participate in the online survey by giving a missed to call 1969. They will receive a call back via Integrated Voice Response System (IVRS) with Amitabh Bachchan‘s voice. "Answer the call and press 1 to participate in Swachhata ranking.
IVRS will ask for your area PIN Code. If u don't know enter 500001 for Hyderabad. IVRS will ask above questions relating to improvement in cleanness over last year.

He also said citizens can also give feedback by login on tohttp://swachh-survekshan.in/. The corporation is competing with 500 cities across the country in 2017 Swachh Survekshan rankings.
