Hyderabad: Private school students are deprived of the digital classes and TV lessons of the government due to schools lack of participation in the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) programme.
School Education department has taken up the CCE programme in the State to improve the education standards of the students both in private and government schools.
Several activities have been launched under the scheme such as encouraging students to do project work, computer lab activity and others.
The monitoring committees appointed by the School Education department have learnt that private schools were not conducting digital classes and not allowing the students to view Mana TV lessons during inspections.
The monitoring committees have found that most of the private school teachers were not aware of the CCE programme. Though the schools were supposed to give marks on the basis of students’ performance in periodical examinations, the schools were giving away marks to impress the parents.
Committees found that students from private schools were indulging in cut and paste methods to complete their project work rather than putting in efforts to do them physically. Whereas, the government school students’ were applying their knowledge to come up with creative activities.
It has come to the notice of the committee that the private schools have been awarding marks based on the previous tests than the current performance of students. The cumulative files and formative assessment of the students, under CCE system, is not maintained in the private schools.
The Management is not allowing the teachers to evaluate the academic talents of the students.
Private schools were also not implementing the subject plans, whereas government schools were somewhat better in this regard. Lab activities were less in private schools and teachers are maintaining the records without activity.
Monitoring committees found that the private schools have been following the old practices in teaching methods and diluting the spirit of CCE programme.
The report further said that government and private schools were negligent in conducting the parents meetings regularly. Parents were kept in dark about the performance of the students.
The committees which have commenced the monitoring activities have submitted their reports to the district education officers.
