Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the TS EAMCET-II-2016 (Medical) entrance examination question paper leak case, is all set to lay its hands on one person, who is now believed to be the key suspect.

It may be recalled earlier the CID accused Kamlesh Kumar Singh, an advocate from Bihar. However, he died at Osmania General Hospital in the first week of January, even before he was probed.

But Kamlesh give a tip-off to the investigators which led them to identify one S Bahadur Singh, presently living in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh. His movements were being closely monitored by the Uttar Pradesh police at the request of CID and he would be picked up soon for questioning, sources said.

The sources also said that it was Bahadur Singh, who purchased the EAMCET question paper from the private printing press in Gurgaon, where it was printed. He paid Rs 10 lakh to the employee of the printing press for the question paper, sources added.

Sources also hinted that the investigation would come to an end after the arrest of Bahadur Singh and the employee of the printing press and it is unlikely that any one from the JNTU was involved in the leakage.

The CID official said that it has so far arrested 56 persons in the case out of the 70 accused. Of the absconding 14 accused, the history of 12 accused is available with the investigators, while one died at the OGH and the last one is the employee of the printing press, who sold the paper for Rs 10 lakh.

The CID arrived to a conclusion that the entire scam was worth Rs 15 crore as around 150 students purchased the leaked question paper. The students and their parents would be named as witnesses in the case, sources added.
