She was here to participate in the Inter Directorate Shooting Competition (IDSC) and has completed two camps in Karimnagar and the third camp held in Sangareddy last week.

On being selected here in shooting, she hopes to participate in the inter-group competition which would be held in Secunderabad. From there she hopes to be selected for All-India Thal Sainik Camp. Al most all the girls in the Thal Sainik group have made up their minds about joining the armed forces to serve the country in the near future.

Those who obtain certificates from NCC not only get reservations in educational institutions and jobs, but also directly go to the interview level during defence recruitments. Speaking to The Hans India, Colonel Raja Dutta, Commanding Officer of the Batallion said that physical training, drill, classes and firing among many other activities inculcate qualities like discipline, confidence and national integration.

When asked why most of them were preferring Army instead of Navy and Air force, he said that Army had more visibility when compared to other areas of defence. 10 per cent of NCC cadets coming from rural areas of Medak and Sangareddy preferred Army jobs, whereas 25 per cent are opting for police jobs.
