Sangareddy: Health Minister C Laxma Reddy and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao gave a credit to the KCR kits as they thrust the government hospitals into the limelight. It had led to increasing number of institutional deliveries in the government hospitals, he said.

The Ministers were inaugurating a new Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) with 150 beds. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 16 beds is equipped with ventilators and multi-parameters on the premises of Sangareddy District Hospital on Friday. What was once a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) in the main hospital has been upgraded to an exclusive hospital for mother and child provide better healthcare.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the new hospital, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy, the chief guest for the event, detailed various steps being taken by the government to improve healthcare in the State.

As many as 40 dialysis centres across the State would become fully operational within two months, he said/ Efforts were underway to set up ICU in all district and area hospitals in the State. He also revealed that an ICU with a capacity of 65 beds would soon be set up in Gandhi hospital.

Reiterating the government was committed to improving public healthcare system and education sectors in the State, he said facilities in all hospitals and also sanitation and environment around all hospitals had been transformed. He promised to sanction a dialysis centre in Narayankhed Area Hospital, Parthiva vehicles in Sangareddy government hospital.

He also said a wellness centre for government employees and journalists would be set in the district. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, who was also a guest at the event, listed out at the Opposition for trying to decry the good works being done by the government.

“People should understand what Sangareddy Government Hospital was once and what it is today. There was no ICU here despite being the district head quarter of united Medak for 60 years. Now we have ICU and are also going to have a Single Usage Dialysis Centre, separate sections for urology and cardiology coming up within two months at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore, a wellness centre, 15 specialists in general surgery.

Attributing the increase in institutional deliveries to a ‘revolution’ created by KCR kits, he said before 2014 the percentage of institutional deliveries in government was 46 and it went up to 68 per cent after the KCR kits were introduced from June 2 this year.
