Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday informed that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao would lay the foundation stone for renovation works of Sri Rama Sagar Project at Pochapadu of Nizamabad district on August 10.

Speaking to media persons here, Harish Rao said that the SRSP would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 2,000 crore to provide irrigation facilities to 14.50 lakh acres of land.

He said previous Congress and TDP regimes had ignored the irrigation projects of Telangana and remained focussed on Seemandhra projects. However, he said that the present TRS regime had initiated the renovation and restoration of all irrigation projects and tanks.

Harish Rao also informed that Rs. 1,000 crore would be spent to bring Godavari water from Kaleshwaram to SRSP.
