Woman spends night in rain with son’s body

Hyderabad: In an appalling incident, a landlord in Kukatpally refused to allow the dead body of a tenant’s 10-year old son who died following illness on Wednesday.

The woman and their relatives spent the night outside their house, even as it rained heavily, throughout the night. The sixth standard boy Suresh and resident of Venkateshwar Nagar in Kukatpally was suffering from dengue for few days and died while undergoing treatment at Niloufer hospital on Wednesday.

When the woman reached her rented house along with the body, the landlord, Jagdish Gupta prohibited the woman from taking it inside. He argued that since his daughter was married recently, it would be inauspicious for the house forcing Eswaramma, a native of Mahbubnagar, to sit in the rain throughout the night.

Locals helped her with coffin box and tarpaulin covers. The local police also tried to intervene in the matter, but of no avail.
