Hyderabad: The sleuths of Task Force seized a lorry and an auto trolley carrying 16 tonnes of PDS rice and arrested two persons from Bahadurpura on Monday.

The South Zone Task Force Team along with civil supply enforcement officials jointly conducted the raid at Akbar Travels garage and found a lorry and auto trolley filled with PDS rice weighing about 16 tonnes. The arrested were identified as Md Arif (52) and his son Md Imran (32), who were indulging in loading and transportation of PDS rice.

The prime accused Md Arif is habituated to procuring the PDS rice and selling the same at higher prices and making huge profits and diverting the PDS rice meant for poor beneficiaries. He is also accused of transporting PDS rice to neighbouring States of Karnataka and Maharashtra.

He was earlier arrested in 4 similar cases by the Falaknuma Police station. While other six accused Akhil, Nawaz, Mohsin, Aziz (Fair price shop No.372, Circle-III, Tadbun), Mohammed, Mohsin (of Akbar Travels) remained at large.

They are suspected of helping the prime accused acquire the PDS rice and store, before transporting them illegally. The seized PDS rice, lorry, auto trolley and accused persons were handed over to Bahadurpura police
station for further investigation.
