Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao on Wednesday expressed displeasure over alleged water theft from Pothireddypadu project by Andhra Pradesh government.

Reacting on the incident of drawing waters from the project by the neighbouring State, the Minister took exception for not obtaining permission from the Krishna River Management Board. Nageshwar Rao expressed surprise as to why the Andhra Pradesh government was resorting to draw waters illegally.

This type of situation would only mar the conducive environment between the two Telugu States, he felt. He also asked the Andhra Pradesh dispensation to refrain from such attitude of taking waters from the projects without obtaining prior permission from the water board.

The governments were supposed to get permissions from the water board before drawing waters, he said. The Minister also flayed Maharashtra and Karnataka States for building several projects illegally.

It may be mentioned here that the Telangana government has already raised banner of revolt against Andhra Pradesh government for illegal drawing of waters from the Pothireddypadu. It also urged the water board to convene an urgent meeting to settle the dispute and take a decision on rightful share of drinking waters and irrigation waters.
