Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided to embark on preliminary clearance of Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS). The GHMC higher officials have directed ground level staff to conduct primary scrutiny and submit the report to the High Court for further proceedings.

The GHMC will scrutinise BRS applications from October 4 to the last week of October According to a GHMC official, the High Court recently has asked the civic body to carry on with the phase I scrutiny of BRS applications in order to demolish the un-authorised structures. The civic body has received as many as 1.39 lakh BRS applications and processing has been halted following High Court's directions last year.

When queried about the same, a senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the civic body would first scrutinise the applications and prepare a list of violations for each structure whose owner applied under BRS. He said that GHMC during phase I will check the type of violations and reject the BRS applications, whose layout and other parameters would not fit in BRS.

He said the remaining list will be submitted to the High Court for further proceedings. He has further said that GHMC will start the BRS application scrutiny from October 4 and complete it by October end.
