Jignasa competition for degree college students

Hyderabad: In order to invigorate the learning environment in government degree colleges, the Commissioner of Collegiate Education has proposed to organise Jignasa - Student Study Projects competition for the present academic year.

The study projects adjudged as best one at the State level would be awarded with a cash incentive of Rs 25, 000 for the group as first prize, Rs 5,000 to the mentor of the group, Rs 18,000 to the second prize winner and Rs 3,000 to the mentor or teacher of the group along with merit certificates. Last date for submission of study projects at the college level is November 17, at the district level November 30 and at cluster level is December 11.

Issuing instructions to the colleges in this regard, the Commissioner of Collegiate Education said that principals of all the Government Degree Colleges should instruct the teaching faculty to motivate and encourage the students and ensure that they participate and work as a group on a study project.

Each group shall comprise of 5 to 6 students; a group less than 5 members shall be treated as disqualified. The study projects prepared by a single student shall be disqualified. The topic of the study project shall be original, relevant to the present time and must create inquisitiveness to explore real world problems and challenges with plausible solutions and suggestions.

The study projects may be prepared in subjects like English, Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, History, Political Science / Public Administration, Economics Commerce (Financial, Cost Management, Accounting and related papers), Commerce (Business Organization and Managements, Banking, Insurance, Financial Services, Foreign Trade, Entrepreneurship, Auditing and related papers), Commerce (Information Technology, Statistics, Taxation, Law and related papers), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Microbiology, ZooLogy and Biotechnology and Computer Science / Application.

A committee should be constituted to evaluate the projects at the college level and the project adjudged as best in each subject would be sent to the District Level Committee constituted by the District Resource Centres (DRCs). The names of nominated district coordinators by the principals of each DRC should be communicated to Collegiate Commissioner office by October 12.

The projects adjudged as best at the district level shall be submitted to the cluster level assessment. The college which has organized the cluster level presentation and selection of study projects shall submit the projects adjudged as best at the cluster level for final assessment by Commissioner of Collegiate Education Office for State level selections.

At the State level, a student research forum shall be organised by inviting experts from various Universities who are known for their academic and professional integrity to evaluate the study projects.
