Hyderabad: Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places all over Telangana on Monday (October 9), the Met department bulletin warned on Sunday. It said thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rain lashed isolated places in all districts in the State on Sunday, as a low-pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining south Bangladesh under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation.

The bulletin said the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level. The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and its neighbourhood now extends up to 3.6 km above the mean sea level. Also, the upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood now lies over the adjoining south-central Maharashtra and south Konkan, extending up to 3.1 km above the mean sea level.

Besides, the trough from the upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and the adjoining Maharashtra and south Konkan to Odisha across Telangana and south Chhattisgarh extends up to 1.5km above the mean sea level. As a result, during the last during the last 24 hours the Southwest Monsoon was active over Telangana, where heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places, with Golkonda, in Hyderabad district, recording 12 cm of rainfall.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Gandeed (Ranga Reddy) 9, Kondurg (Mahbubnagar) 8, Nandipet (Nizamabad), Doma (Ranga Reddy), Govindaraopet (Warangal), Nizamsagar (Nizamabad) 6 each, Banswada (Nizamabad) 5, Jakranpalle (Nizamabad), Rajendranagar (Ranga Reddy) , Dharmasagar (Warangal) 4 each.

There was three cm of rain each in Enkuru (Khammam), Kosgi (Mahbubnagar), Narmetta (Warangal), Julurpad (Khammam), Makloor, Pitlam (both in Nizamabad), Thollada (Khammam), Huzurabad (Karimnagar), Damaragidda (Mahbubnagar), Ranjal (Nizamabad), Hakimpet IAF Station (Ranga Reddy), Suryapet (Nalgonda) Two cm of rain each occurred in Chinthakam (Khammam), Ramgundam (Karimnagar), Shamirpet (Ranga Reddy), Hyderabad Airport, Pargi (Ranga Reddy), Sirpur (Adilabad), Koida (Khammam), Sarangapur (Karimnagar), Burgampadu (Khammam) and one cm in Konijerla, Bonakal, Parvathagiri, Mudhole, Venkatapur, Venkatapuram, Medchal, Madhira, Manthani, Chennur, Maheswaram, Chevella, Eturunagaram. Dubbak, Kotgiri, Madnur, Pinapaka, Tekulapalle, Hasanparthy, Asifabad and Aswapuram.
