Siddipet: Bowing his head before his native place which gave him strength to speak straightforwardly and will power to fight for the cause of Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vowed to continue to strive to achieve the goals of Telangana as long as he could breathe.

Speaking at the public meeting held in Siddipet on the occasion of the first anniversary of districts’ reorganisation on Wednesday, where he laid the foundation stones for the construction of District Collectorate and Police Commissionerate at Duddeda village in Kondapaka mandal and foundation stone for Siddipet Medical College at Ensanpally village in Siddipet, he reassured the people of Telangana that they had nothing to be worried, as the State government was moving forward with welfare schemes and carrying out development works like no other State in the country.

Quoting from the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s and the Union Finance Ministry’s reports, he said that Telangana stood at the topmost position among all States in India, with a growth rate of 21.7 per cent and attributed the growth to ensuring 24-our power supply, which enabled the industries to function more effectively and helped the workers to get more employment.

Recalling how Telangana was not able to get enough power due to the power lobby in united Andhra Pradesh way back in 90s, he revealed that it was the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to hike power charges that he made him to take a decision to fight for a separate State.

He revealed that Rs 1,300 crore was being spent on constructing District Collectorates and Police Commissionerates in all the newly-formed districts, which would be done within a year. Recalling how the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, had told him while giving his nod for the AP State Reorganisation Act, that the latter was lucky to achieve the purpose of his life which was the formation of the new State while he was still alive, Chandrashekar Rao said it was due to the influence of his childhood teachers at Dubbak Government School like Mrytyunjaya Sharma and Ganne Balreddy for being able to be what he was today.

He declared that Cheriyal could become a municipality after the current term of gram panchayat ended and announced that roads would be laid in remote tribal areas of Husnabad and Maddur mandals.

Greatly appreciating the efforts of District Collector P Venkatrama Reddy for efficiently leading the construction of 2BHK houses in the district, he sanctioned another 1,000 2BHK houses for the district as per the Collector’s request.

He also agreed to construct a new District Jail in Siddipet, a special police battalion for the district, release Rs 25 crore for further beautification of Komati Cheruvu, Rs 10 crore for development of Komuravelli Mallanna Temple, funds for construction of government offices and buildings in Dubbak, Husbanad and Cheriyal mandals.

He also assured to spend as many crores of rupees as needed to develop the banks of Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir as a major tourist destination, as the reservoir location was on the eastern side of Siddipet.

He concluded his speech by saying he was thankful to God for giving him the opportunity to serve Telangana for the past 35 years of his life.

Principal Secretary RP Singh, Collector P Venkatrama Reddy, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZPTCs, MPTCs, sarpanchs, government officials and thousands of people from various places in the district attended the event.
