Telangana Assembly session from Oct 27

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has proposed to have the Legislative Assembly and Council sessions from October 27 onwards.

Proposals in this regard were sent to the Legislative Assembly Secretary. The Business Advisory Committee will have its meeting on October 26 and decide upon the duration of the sessions. Chief Minister and Leader of the House K. Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to put forth a proposal from the Ruling Party that the schedule should be prepared for a month’s sessions and with at least 15 to 20 working days. The government proposals were sent to the Assembly Secretary Vedantham Narasimhacharyulu. The Chief Minister felt that both the Legislative Assembly and Council should have the same duration of the sessions. Every subject that is debated in the Assembly should also be debated in the Council.

The strategy Committee meeting on the Legislative Assembly and Council was held here at Pragati Bhavan on Tuesday. Deputy CM Mohamood Ali, Ministers T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao, Etela Rajender, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Laxmareddy, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Mahender Reddy, State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Niranjan Reddy, Legislative Council Chief Whip P Sudhakar Reddy, Whips B Venkateshwarlu, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Assembly Whips G Sunitha, Gampa Govardhan, Nallala Odelu, Mission Bhagiratha Vice Chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy, MDC Chairman Seri Subhash Reddy, Government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma and CMO officials participated.

“Every issue should be debated in the Assembly. The government is ready answer all the queries and questions that will be raised by the members. We are ready to debate on any issue. All issues should be explained to the people through the Assembly. The Ministers should get ready for this. We are ready to answer any question raised by the members in the Opposition," the Chief Minister said.

KCR said that his government has implemented many innovative programmes and schemes for the people, which no other government did in the country. "This should be explained to the people. Queries from the members should be answered. Accept the valuable suggestions. Finally, through the Assembly the needed information should reach people. The government is ready to conduct the sessions for any number of days. From the ruling side let us ask for one month’s sessions. However, we have no objection to conduct the sessions for any number of days as requested by the Opposition. We have no objection on whatever issues the Opposition raises. We are ready to debate on any issue. The House should be conducted with dignity. Let there be a debate on all the issues,” the CM said.

The Chief Minister desired that there should be a discussion on the measures taken by the government for the protection and preservation of the Mother Tongue, Telugu. He said with the condition that Telugu should be a compulsory subject till Intermediate education; besides protection of the Telugu language several Telugu Pandit jobs are created there by more employment opportunities. He said that the Telugu would also be taught as subject in the residential Schools run by the government. The CM suggested that there should also be a discussion on the proposed Telangana World Telugu Conference.

“Treat the forthcoming Sessions as very important ones. The Ministers should make categorical statements on several programmes, schemes and projects taken up the government for the welfare of the people. There should be an in-depth discussion on every issue allowing every member to participate. Some Bills have to be passed in these Sessions. In the past Telangana Assembly had passed several resolutions and sent them to the Central Government, but the Centre did not respond. Hence, there is a need to once again make resolutions on the bifurcation of the High Court, Women’s reservations in the Parliament, increasing reservations for the Minorities and STs, Income Tax exemption for the Singareni employees, interlinking the employment generation scheme with the Agriculture activities, establishment of AIIMS in Telangana state Etc., Let us pass these resolutions once again and send to the Centre there by exert pressure,” the Chief Minister said.
