The government has allotted 50 acres at Edira village, on the way to Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar, for the construction of the college building.

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao along with Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy laid the foundation stone for Telangana's first medical college building in Mahbubnagar on Monday. The government has allotted 50 acres at Edira village, on the way to Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar, for the construction of the college building.

Speaking on the occasion, K T Rama Rao said with the efforts of the Health Minister, Laxma Reddy, Mahbubnagar’s dream has been fulfilled. The building would be built in a pleasant weather, KTR said, suggesting that students who study at the college should become best doctors.

Stating that the medical college had started two years ago, Dr Laxma Reddy said that the academic admissions started from 2016-2017 year and also the college got approval for the admissions for 2017-2018 academic year. “As of now, nearly 300 students are studying MBBS course. The medical college had been functioning with 350 beds," he said.

Bhandari Bhaskar, Mahbubnagar Zilla Parishad Chairman, AP Jitendar Reddy, Mahbubnagar MP, Srinivas Goud, MLA, TSMSIDC Chairman Paryada Krishna Murthy, District Collector Ronald Rose, Director of Medical College Dr K Ramesh Reddy and others participated in the programme.
