Decoy operations by SHE team Rachakonda

Uppal: The SHE team unit of Rachakonda under the supervision of Additional Commisioner of Police, Shaikh Salima and Commissioner of Police Mahesh M Bhagwat conducted decoy operations at four locations under its jurisdiction. The locations were LB Nagar Bus Stop, Saroornagar mini-Tankbund, Chhotu ppal Bus Stop and Metro Station from Nagole to NGRI.

The ACP told The Hans India, “We conduct decoy operations on a daily basis throughout the Commissionerate so that ultimately the crime against women becomes zero, our resolution for 2018.”

When asked about the total number of members who were deployed for the decoy operations in the four places she said, “There were about 15 members who were sent for the operation. We have about 400 mishap prone places for women which we have identified and call it as ‘Hot Spots’ and we conduct decoy operations in these places, by picking up randomly selected areas on a daily basis.”

“During the operation we ensure that we were in civil dresses as this helps us in nabbing offenders easily without alerting them. Most of the time crime against women are reported from the areas which has a lot of crowd and from bus stops near colleges and schools. On festive occasions, we conduct decoy operations on a large scale”, said Salima.

The SHE team of Rachakonda Commissionerate had launched the SHE for HER initiative last year in which they had picked up about 250 students who would bridge the gap of communication between the police with the happenings of women in the society. Apart from this, they had also rescued 20 children from becoming prey to Child marriage.
