The Standing Committee meeting of the GHMC held here with city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan in chair resolved on Thursday to slash the civic body’s annual budget for 2018-19 to Rs 6076.86 crore, scaling it down from the whopping Rs 13,150 crore. The meeting also resolved to order a vigilance probe into 330 unauthorized hoardings sprang up all over the city during the past 10 years.
Hyderabad: The Standing Committee meeting of the GHMC held here with city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan in chair resolved on Thursday to slash the civic body’s annual budget for 2018-19 to Rs 6076.86 crore, scaling it down from the whopping Rs 13,150 crore. The meeting also resolved to order a vigilance probe into 330 unauthorized hoardings sprang up all over the city during the past 10 years.
Tenders have been invited to remove the hoardings. The meeting also resolved to give a job to the widow of the Mansoorabad drainage mishap victim in the civic body on outsourcing basis.
He called upon the standing committee members to ensure corporators embark on a large-scale campaign and launch awareness programmes on Swachh Survekshana-2018, to be held in February, with the participation of the residential colonies’ welfare associations, ward and area committees’ members and civil society organisations.
Mayor approved the request of local MLA and corporators to name two parks and two community halls after the deceased corporator Singireddy Srinivas Reddy. Mayor ordered provision of compost pits in weekly shandies using the wet garbage.
Other resolutions adopted at the meeting are:
•Appointments of 175 work inspectors on outsourcing basis in the construction of double bed-room houses and other engineering projects.
•Extension of contract of 977 drivers and 1537 workers, appointed on an outsourcingt basis, for three years.
•Addition of fifth and sixth floors to the south zone office of the GHMC at Bandlaguda at a cost of Rs 5.80 crore.
•Slashing the GHMC budget to Rs 6076.86 crore as the allocations to development of Musi River catchement, roads in Hyderabad and housing corporation not included in the GHMC budget, but to their respective corporations.
Those who took part in the standing committee meeting are: Bangari Prakash, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Koppula Vithal Reddy, Mirya Riyaz Al-Hasan-Afindi, Muzaffar Hussain, Parameswari Singh, Rajender Yadav and M Narsimha Yadav.
