Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao as a curse on
Hyderabad : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao as a curse on Telangana and said that the people would not be able to achieve prosperity unless they throw KCR, his family and party out of power.
Addressing the "Praja Swamya Parirakshana Nirahara Deeksha" on third day on Thursday at Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly condemned KCR's remarks wherein he described Congress as 'Villain No.1'. He said for KCR, everyone who struggled for statehood cause, has become a villain. He said Prof. M. Kodandaram has united all groups and parties to form the TJAC which spearheaded the statehood movement. Similarly, baladeer Gadar, Vimalakkka and other revolutionaries actively participated in the Telangana movement. Today, KCR is treating all of them as villains while Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Mahender Reddy and a few industrialists who strongly opposed Telangana are being rewarded, he said.
He said KCR should be ashamed of his criticism on Congress party which granted statehood for Telangana. He said despite knowing that Congress party would be completely wiped out of Andhra Pradesh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi gave Telangana in view of struggle and sacrifices made by youth and students. He said KCR would not have become the Chief Minister if Congress party would not have given Telangana State. Instead of being thankful to Congress and Sonia Gandhi for turning a 60-year-old dream into a reality, KCR has been criticising them.
The TPCC Chief said KCR has no stature to speak anything on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He said Pandit Nehru participated in the freedom movement and also spent 11 months in jail for India's freedom. He said KCR did not spend even 11 days in jail for the cause of Telangana. As the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Nehru laid the foundation of a modern India and today every citizen is reaping the fruits of tree planted by him.
Similarly, Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was the Congress party that started several projects in Telangana region and developed Hyderabad to the level that Telangana was counted among richest and revenue surplus States from the first day of its formation. Compared to what previous Congress Governments did for Telangana region, TRS Government has completely ruined the State during its four year rule. Public wealth was looted in the name of irrigation and other projects, he alleged.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR is proving to be a curse on the people of Telangana and no section of the society was happy with the performance of TRS Government. He said growth and development could not be achieved until KCR is thrown out of power in next elections.
The TPCC chief said that the Congress party has been pressuring the TRS Government to allocate funds in its last budget to fulfil all the electoral promises that it made with the people. It was due to the same fear of Congress party that the Chief Minister suspended all its members while illegally expelling two MLAs. He announced that the Congress party would approach both the courts and people against the TRS Government's decision.
Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated the demand that Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary provide the entire footage of Assembly proceedings of March 12 wherein Council Chairman Swamy Goud was allegedly 'hurt' during the joint address of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan. He said that the entire story of 'attack' was fabricated and scripted by KCR to defame Congress legislators so as to prevent them participating in the budget session.
TJAC Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram and other leaders visited Gandhi Bhavan to express solidarity with Komatireddy Venkatreddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar who undertook a 48-hour hunger strike against their expulsion as members of Telangana Assembly.
Later in the evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Shabbir Ali (Council), TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, other legislators and leaders, offered juice to Komatireddy and Sampath to end their 48-hour long hunger strike.
