The Telangana government\'s resolve to improve infrastructure in Osmania and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) hospitals gained momentum on Saturday. Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy examined designs of proposed towers and buildings in these hospitals.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government's resolve to improve infrastructure in Osmania and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) hospitals gained momentum on Saturday. Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy examined designs of proposed towers and buildings in these hospitals.

As far as Osmania is concerned, government while safeguarding existing heritage buildings, is keen on building a six-storey tower in vacant land in hospital premises. Osmania hospital is spread over 27 acres, out of which the proposed tower would be built in 6 acres. Minister examined the tower design and proposed some changes to hospital superintendent Dr Nagender and chief engineer Laxman Reddy.

Minister also examined NIMS designs for specialty towers for nephrology and urology departments that were brought by director Dr K Manohar and the engineering officials. Laxma Reddy said that he would take building designs to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's notice for his inputs and suggestions.

Meanwhile, health minister also discussed with officials about improvement of facilities in these two hospitals. He directed OU superintendent and NIMS director to submit reports in this regard. Principal Secretary (health) Shanti Kumari and Director of Medical Education Dr Ramesh Reddy among others took part in the meeting.
