Hyderabad: In view of forthcoming Muharram and Ganesh chaturthi, south zone police conducted cordon and search operations, which was led by south zone Deputy Commissioner V Satyanarayana. As many as 42 suspects were apprehended during the operation held in the areas of Chandrayangutta, Farooq Nagar under two different police stations of south zone.

More than 250 police personnel participated from the rank of ACP to Home Guards. Besides apprehending 42 suspects, police also identified 12 persons as rowdy sheeters. 148 vehicles including two-wheelers (137), three-wheelers (9), four-wheelers (2) were seized during the operation.

Satyanarayana said that besides forthcoming Muharram and Ganesh festival, the atmosphere is also surcharged due to impending elections. The operation was conducted in the most sensitive areas situated in Old City. The areas include Al-Jubail Colony of Chandrayangutta, Farooq Nagar of Falaknuma Police Stations of South Zone. “The spot verification made by police using Mobile Electronic Finger Print Equipment helped the police to identify 12 rowdy sheeters.

Further, a total of 148 vehicles were taken into custody for suspicion. During the search operation 2 cases of illegal slaughtering and 2 cases of Honey and Garlic adulteration came to notice”, he said The technology used included C-DAT application for tracking the criminals Technology and Mobile Electronic Fingerprints Equipments, for knowing that criminal background. The cordon and search programme was conducted under the direct supervision of DCP South zone, assisted by ACP Falaknuma Syed Fiaz with the assistance of SHOs Chandrayangutta and Falaknuma and seized huge quantity of adulteration honey and garlic and ginger Paste.

According to official sources, the cordon and search was conducted in view of recent incidents of heist of Gold antiquities belonging to Nizam VII including a tiffin box worth crores of rupees, murder under Bhavaninagar police station limits and attempt to murder under Chandrayangutta police station limits. Similar operations will be conducted shortly with the objective of keeping in check anti-social elements in some other identified areas.
