JNTU: The Telangana unit of ABVP on Wednesday represented to JNTU Registrar Yadayya demanding in-person verification of documents of students in engineering colleges seeking management quota seats and introduction of biometric system for B Tech students.

The representation alleged that fee ranging from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh was being collected from each student for management seat without verifying documents, with the sole motive of making money. Such students without getting qualified in EAMCET exam, not getting ranks, were showing more interest in B category seats and opting for management seats. Unable to study well and without credits, they were getting detained. Hence, the representation said, documents of the students should be verified at the time of admission.

The ABVP technical cell co-convener Challa Ramakrishna while submitting the representation wanted the quality of engineering education to be enhanced. He sought introduction of biometric system for the undergraduate B.Tech students in all engineering colleges. Among the ABVP activists present were Greater Hyderabad city technical cell co-convener Pithani Sandeep, Bathini Satish, Chintakuntla Saikumar, former City secretary Juvvadi Dilip.
