Nallagandla: The muddy and narrow road from Serilingampally Railway Station to Nallagandla is forcing the public to walk along the railway track to reach Nallagandla, putting their lives at risk. Despite submitting complaints to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to restore the road, they are turning a blind eye.

For more than one year, the commuters have been walking through the rail track. “The irregular road is not only causing inconvenience to pedestrians but also to those commute on two wheelers and three wheelers. The road turned risky for both shared autos and buses. The road is filled with potholes, no street lighting, walking through the road stretch becomes terrific especially in monsoon, with open drains and mosquitoes menace,” said Prakash, a resident of Serilingampally. The public is forced to walk along the rail track to reach their destination and there are instances of train accidents, he added.

With officials neglecting the issue, the locals are in a dilemma on whether the roads will get restored or not. “It is a back breaking journey for any commuter to cross the stretch. The commuters have to face this trauma more often especially because of the sudden rain, it is difficult to find out the potholes and this will continue until the road work is started to maintain, besides, the slow movement of vehicles is troubling school goers as they are not able to reach school on time,” said K Sarita, a resident.

She further said that the odd behavior from officials of not responding to the issue comes as a surprise. However, the GHMC officials claim that the work will start soon with the allocated funds and the problem will be solved shortly.
