Vikarabad: The political situation has been warming up in the run-up for the elections. As of now, no major political party, except Bahujan Left Front (BLF), announced its candidate in the constituency. Former Minister G Prasad Kumar is busy conducting door-to-door campaigns, expecting a ticket from Congress Party.

Ex-MLA Sanjeeva Rao from TRS party was denied a ticket by the high command, citing health reasons. Waiting for the announcement from the TRS party, the other parties have also adopted wait-and-see approach. Meanwhile, the list of aspirants has been growing and several names have come to the fore. Aspirants are trying to display their strengths before the high command. As a result, groups of activists have formed.

A recent incident exemplifies the anxiety prevailed among party workers. Former MLA Sanjeeva Rao held a meeting with party activists on Sunday. But the meeting did not go well as per the plan. Various groups created ruckus and a pandemonium broke out in the meeting. Some sections questioned if the ticket was given to non-locals. The activists said that they would not allow non-locals to contest from the constituency. Sanjeeva Rao had to convince the activists to bring the situation back to normal. However, political observers opine that delay in announcing the names of contestants would further worsen the situation.
