Necklace Road: On the occasion of International Cube Day, vegan volunteers formed a human cube near Prasads Imax on Saturday, in a bid to demonstrate barbaric and inhuman treatment meted out to the animals in the hands of humans.

Volunteers wearing masks of Guy Fawkes and holding placards displayed video footages on the importance of going the vegan way. They screened the footages on how animals were being exploited for avoidable human wants. It showed the exploitation of animals for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation and labour. Later, the volunteers discussed how avoiding animal-based luxury and food choices was not just ethical but was also a mode for simple and healthy living.

V S L Sowmya, an auditor with Deloitte, said, “Tens of billions of land and marine animals are being exploited and is barbarous in nature.” Another vegan, Sandeep Kumar, a software engineer at Leapzen, said, “I was raised as a non-vegetarian but after watching a documentary ‘earthlings’ and other videos on sufferings of animals, I changed.”
