KPHB Colony: This graveyard sans boundary has now turned into a haven for anti-social elements. The Hindu graveyard, one of the oldest in KPHB Colony, was allotted by Housing Board about 15 years ago. People of all kinds get inside the graveyard and due to lack of a boundary wall, commuters even pass through it while moving from KPHB Phase IV to Hi-Tec City.

Following representations from locals, ex-MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao assured to construct a modern cemetery but it has remained on paper. "Motorists use the graveyard as a road during morning hours and hundreds of motorists pass through the graveyard,” says Ramulu, a local. Motorists for their part say they are forced to do so, to avoid traffic congestion. The boundary wall is only option to stop vehicles passing through burial ground.

According to Rupa Devi, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation official in-charge for improvement of burials, “Boundary wall is raised on another side of the burial ground as the road widening is yet to be finalised.” Speaking about modern cemetery, she says as elections are round the corner, modern cemetery construction is possible during the next government only.

Lack of communication between GHMC and the burial committee, too, is causing problems. According to information provided by officials, there is no registered committee for the graveyard and many groups claim themselves to be part of a committee which is causing uneasiness and rift among people and as a result, basic amenities are not met.
