Mahbubnagar witnesses over 80 percent voting
With a few small incidences of temporary hitches relating to nonfunction of electronic voting machines EVMs here and there and one or two minor brawl between the ruling and opposition party leaders, overall polling process across all the 14 Assembly constituencies in erstwhile Mahbubnagar districtrict was held smoothly and on an average the overall voting percentage was above 85 per cent
Mahbubnagar: With a few small incidences of temporary hitches relating to non-function of electronic voting machines (EVMs) here and there and one or two minor brawl between the ruling and opposition party leaders, overall polling process across all the 14 Assembly constituencies in erstwhile Mahbubnagar districtrict was held smoothly and on an average the overall voting percentage was above 85 per cent.
With the polling began right from 6 am onwards, the election staff first conducted mock polling and then after ensuring that everything was working properly started the normal polling from 7 am onwards and ended at 5 pm in evening.
Except a few incidents in Gadwal, where DK Aruna and her associates held a dharna against the arrest of some of the key Congress party activists in K.T. Doddi mandal of Gadwal during the early hours, no major incidents were observed in Gadwal district.
In few polling stations in Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet and Jadcherla constituencies, the election staff faced some hiccups relating to non-functioning of EVMs temporarily. However, later the technical staff corrected them and later the election process continued smoothly.
In Farookhnagar of Shadnagar constituency, the polling process at Duskal village polling centre started late at around 7.40 am. The reason for starting late is said to be problem with the EVM machines. Here Praja Kutami candidate from Congress party Choulapally Pratap Reddy cast his vote.
Congress working president Revanth Reddy, who is representing as the Congress contestant from Kodangal constituency, cast his vote at Kondareddy pally village of Vangoor mandal in Achampet constituency. Dr C Laxma Reddy, caretaker Health Minister, cast his vote at ZPHS High School polling booth 176 in Badepally village of Jadcherla constituency and expressed hope that TRS party will sweep the elections and he would win with a record majority in his constituency.
In Devarkadra constituency, the Congress party contestant Dokur Pavan Kumar cast his vote in Dokur village. Similarly, Ala Venkateshwar Reddy of TRS party from Devarkadra also cast his vote from Annasagar village. Overall the voting was conducted smoothly in all constituencies and Wanaparthy constituency witnessed the highest voting percentage of 80.83 per cent vote, while Kalwakurthy followed with 80 per cent, followed by Devarkadra 76 per cent, Nagarkurnool with 75.62 per cent, Jadcherla constituency 75 per cent, Achampet with 74.96, Alampur constituency witnessed 72.16 per cent, Gadwal with 71.95, Kollapur with 70.15, Mahabubnagar with 70 per cent, Makthal with 69 per cent and among all these Narayanpet constituency witnessed the least poling percent of 64.7 per cent.
