Plea for Urdu display boards at police station in Tappachabutra

Tappachabutra: Even though the State government has recognised Urdu as second official language, the police are yet to adopt this in letter and spirit, feel City activists who have regretted lack of provision, particularly in the police stations in Old City.
A social activist, Dr Lubna Sarwath, lamented lack of Information display boards in Urdu language in Tappachabutra police station. While submitting her complaint to top police officials, she noted that it is with regret she found the police station without any display board written in Urdu. “All the information regarding law and order and other information is only in English and Telugu, but not in Urdu. Urdu language is not only the dominant language in the area but also the State of Telangana's second official language,” she said.
Towards this, she requested the police officials to ensure that all the information display boards in Police stations in Hyderabad (MP constituency) as well as the Nampally assembly constituency, in Urdu language. This would be a definite step towards closer connect, trust and harmony with the local people. “We expect your prompt attention towards compliance of Telangana being second official language are per the government’s policy viz., Urdu, as well as Telangana's 'Friendly Police' motto,” she added.
