Zaheerabad: Several union leaders organised a meeting to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing 10% reservation to the Economically Backward Classes (EBC) here at Arya Vysha Function Hall on Sunday.State OC Welfare Union president Y Santhosh Reddy attended the meeting as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that no previous governments have done justice to the upper caste communities.
Santhosh informed that the members of upper caste community were pushed backward because of the caste-based reservations and that injustice was done to them in employment and education.Providing reservations to EBC is a great thing, and the prime minister should be appreciated for making it happen, he added.
He thanked PM Narendra Modi and all the political parties for backing the bill.Santhosh demanded that the state government should implement the EBC reservations in the state, as most of the states from February 1. National leader Geetha Murthy said that the country progresses only when reservations are implemented irrespective of castes and religions. The members felicitated new sarpanches, and also raised funds to help the families of Pulwama victims.
