Old Neredmet: Commuters and residents of Old Neredmet are facing problems commuting problems due to dug-up road going on for the past few days on Rythu Bazar Keshawa Nagar road. The road has been dug-up for laying underground drainage pipelines. The earth, soil, stones etc that have been dug-up have been strewn on the entire stretch of the road, making it impossible for residents to commute. The passersby are forced to take a detour, which again doesn’t have road diversion signboards and the road passes through dark alleys without streetlights making the travel unsafe during night time, especially for women.

A resident sharing his agony said, “The road is closed because of the work and we have to suffer a lot due to this for the past few days, if someone has to cross this they have to take a detour but because of many stray dogs, no street lights and bad condition of roads it is not safe but we don’t have any other option. School kids, women, college students and senior citizens are facing more problems as returning back from school, college or work, they have no option but to go through the detour route. The bus service from this route has been temporarily cancelled and to complete a short distance we have to take a longer route which is wasting our time and money.”

“We only hope that the works are completed on as per the schedule,” he added.
