Kacheguda: The 103-year-old Kacheguda Railway Station has several added attractions. Passengers can now not only admire the architectural beauty of the historic railway station but also enjoy a massage, take a one-hour nap or watch a movie before hopping on to a train.

The facilities are already a hit. One can also book a room for an hour. On an average, there are 15-20 bookings per day. A single room can be booked for Rs 180 and a double bunker room for Rs 810. There are four room options to suit every pocket.

Another attraction that has caught the fancy of people is the massage chairs in platform no 1 and 2. Close to hundred passengers are availing the facility. For five minutes it is Rs 40 and for 10 minutes it is Rs 80 and for 15 minutes Rs 120.

Pushparaj, the station director, said, “All the facilities are outsourced and a part of the profit is shared with SCR.”
This initiative was the brain child of Divisional Railway Manager and other senior officials of Kacheguda Railway Station.

On an average the mobile cinema is getting about 100 viewers per day, though number depends on what movie is being played. When the museum had started, there was a heavy flow of people who were enthusiastic but gradually, the number of people walking into the museum has now stagnated at 15-30. The entry to the museum is free of cost for ticket holders and charge 10 rupees for the rest.

Eco-friendly initiatives
Apart from the entertainment facilities, the Kacheguda Railway station has taken an initiative towards the betterment of the environment by installing water bottle crushing machines and meeting basic requirements of women by installing sanitary napkin vending and disposing machines for more hygienic surroundings.

Apart from these facilities, elevators have been installed for the passengers who find it difficult to change the platforms. It is one of the railway stations to be plastic bag-free and is under constant CCTV surveillance.
