Amid high drama, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday was evicted from the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan and shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in the Capital, as his condition showed signs of deterioration on the fifth day of his fast. Chandrababu Naidu had embarked on indefinite fast on Monday, protesting against the injustice meted out to the people of Seemandhra, as a result of the Congress decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
At the RML Hospital, a team of doctors comprising a cardiologist, two physicians and four resident doctors monitored the condition of Naidu. His health parameters are said to be within normal range, except that he is mildly dehydrated and ketons in the urine are 3Plus. RML Medical Superintendent Dr H K Kar said, “Ketone 3Plus indicates that the body is drawing strength from the last of the calories reserved. We tried giving him intravenous DNS and vitamins but he refused, saying that he wants to continue the fast.” His BP is 150/70, pulse 100, which is on the higher side, sugar 85, ketone 3Plus and he is mildly dehydrated.Tension mounted since noon, as word spread of the impending police crackdown. All the TDP leaders and cadres moved closer to the stage, where Chandrababu Naidu was lying down, to block the police attempts to evict him. This forced the police to withdraw temporarily. Again, the police made a determined attempt at eviction.
The police officers moved towards the stage and informed the TDP leader that his health was deteriorating and he has to be shifted to hospital. The police officers held discussions with TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageshwar Rao and Chandrababu Naidu’s son N Lokesh.
Finally, the police officers helped Naidu to get up and move towards the ambulance that was kept waiting. N Lokesh, Nama Nageshwar Rao and Ramesh Rathod also got into the ambulance, along with Chandrababu Naidu. The police had a tough time to take the ambulance out of the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, as the convoy was being blocked by irate TDP workers, who had gathered in large numbers. Once out of the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, the police changed the route at the last-minute to dodge the workers, who had gathered at other points, en route. The one-hour-long operation was marked by high drama, as hundreds of TDP workers went on rampage, throwing away chairs, throwing away metal-detectors and vandalizing posters of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy by hurling chappals. Slogans of Long Live Leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and We Want Justice rent the air, even as they raised slogans attacking Sonia Gandhi.
Later, the TDP leaders and cadres rushed toward Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s 10, Janpath residence to stage protest demonstrations there. The TDP workers targeted Sonia Gandhi for the decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and for the police action against Chandrababu Naidu.
Earlier in the day, Andhra Pradesh Resident Shashank Goel served a fresh notice and asked the TDP leader to vacate Andhra Pradesh Bhavan.
