studentVisakhapatnam: The regional centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) conducted the Convocation through teleconference at Platinum Jubilee Guest House, Andhra University, here on Friday. A total of 292 students received Degree, Diploma and Certificates. Anjana Chamoli, a student of PG Diploma in Financial Management who secured Gold Medal for merit, received the medal at the convocation. Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law University Vice-Chancellor Prof. RGB Bhavath Kumar, who attended the Convocation, appealed to graduates to aim for excellence in whatever field they choose and contribute to the betterment of society. He said Article 51 A (j) of the Constitution says that every citizen shall strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual life and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of achievement. He insisted that everyone must dream high, set goals and achieve the same with hard work. Regional director Dr S Raja Rao presented a brief report on the activities and new initiatives of the centre. The centre was making efforts to establish more study centres in second-level towns with quality services by activating more academic programmes to ensure education facility for the needy. The main Convocation was held in New Delhi where President Pranab Mukherjee delivered the address. Minister of State for HRD Jatin Prasada was present.
