Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has taken up development of greenery on the premises of the District Court complex. The programme was launched by Principal District Judge K Siva Prasad on Sunday along with VUDA vice-chairman N Yuvaraj. About 500 saplings were planted on the court complex premises as part of efforts to provide shade to the staff members and visitors and aesthetics to the area. Mr Yuvaraj said VUDA has taken the initiative to fill the court complex premises with avenue plantation and landscaping and Rs 3 lakh has been allocated for development of greenery and maintenance for six months. He directed VUDA divisional forest officer (DFO) S Rammohan to take up plantation of selected species at all vacant and unused places in the court complex. Judges of various courts L Sridhar, Gopinath, K Surya Rao, AV Ravindra Babu, A Vallabha Naidu, president of the Visakha Bar Association K Adi Babu, Mr Rammohan, Horticulture officer GV Lakshmi and others attended the programme. Board meet on July 5 The VUDA vice-chairman said a proposal for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) housing colony with not less than 200 units would be placed for discussion before the board in the meeting slated for July 5. Land availability in Ozone Valley layout at Paradesipalem and Cyber Valley layout at Madhurawada would also be taken up during the meeting. The issue of handing over developed area in Ozone Valley layout phase-I to the participating land owners under the land pooling concept and completing the registration process for those already allotted would also be discussed along with other issues. Mr Yuvaraj further said the proposal of taking up allotments in all forthcoming housing projects and layouts of VUDA through draw of lots instead of auction was one of the main issues in the agenda of the meeting. Handing over the open spaces and parks earmarked in the VUDA layouts to the local bodies through registered deeds, especially in the limits of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), concurrence to the tenders finalised for Haritha Housing project works, status of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects of VUDA, along with continuation of lease to some projects, land issues pertaining to L&T and Maytas, mode of allotment of odd bits to the neighbouring residents in VUDA layouts and other issues form part of the agenda. Row Housing allotments Mr Yuvaraj said a notification for allotment of Row Housing units at Rushikonda through auction would be released on 1 July and applications would be received online. In addition, 151 plots were identified in all the VUDA layouts in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram area ready for allotment for which a separate notification would be issued in a few days, he added. As on June 29, about 1,170 applications were received in response to the notification issued for filling of 13 backlog vacancies with SC, ST candidates and last date for receiving applications is July 6, the vice-chairman said.
