Mancherial: Former MLA C Premsagar Rao alleged here on Monday that the TRS government was cheating farmers by including the ruling party activists in the farmer coordination committees (FCCs).

He was addressing the participants at the Congress party’s dharna at the Collectorate to focus attention on the alleged cheating by the State government. The Congress activists tried to lay siege to the Collectorate.

The activists demanded scrapping of the GO 39 and the committees and their replacement by those comprising with revenue and agriculture department staff.

They wanted the government officials, and not the committee members, to distribute cash to farmers. They alleged that the committees were intended to enable the TRS leaders to pocket the money.

Addressing the demonstrators, the Congress leaders warned that the party would launch agitations if the committees were not scrapped.

Among the leaders who took part in the protest were Sattar, Srinivas Nagesh, Kokkirala Surekha, Premalata, Sulochana, besides 300 activists.
