Peddapalli: Everyone must take inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi in achieving their target as he did to get freedom to the country with non-violence, said District in-charge Revenue Officer Ashok Kumar.

Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary at the Collectorate conference hall in Peddapalli on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the in-charge Revenue Officer said that Mahatma Gandhi who was born on October 2 in 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat was inspired by seeing the movies like Sathya Harishchandra and Shravana Kumarudu during his childhood and choose the path of non-violence.

Gandhi participated in freedom struggle and gave a call to the people to stop using western clothes and to participate in Quit India movement and Salt Sathyagraha, he informed.

By bringing all the people under one platform, Gandhiji lead many movements against the British rule and brought freedom to the country using the weapon of non-violence, he reminded.

Gandhiji had given much importance to the cleanliness. Following his steps, everyone must actively participate in Swachh Bharath programme, he urged.

The staff members of the Collectorate AO Nagarjuna, Superintendent Prakash and Venu Gopal, Sunitha, Praveen, Mohan, Bhavani and Prasad were present along with others.
